Synopsis - The Enterprise beams up a colony, long forgotten, and their livestock, before solar flares destroy their world. The colony of farmers informs Picard that there was another colony elsewhere, from their same ship. Upon arrival at the other colony they discover a population of clones.
Up The Long Ladder takes a stunning look at the moral question of cloning versus breeding. The Mariposa colony are all set to clone again, even knowing that they may never overcome the problem of replicative fading, because it's almost all they've ever known, after 300 years. Another woman for Riker; however, the initial fireworks between Riker and Brenna seemed to get lost in the comotion of the second colony and cloning. This is the first and only time we see a performance of the Klingon Tea Ritual; a very nice moment between Pulaski and Worf. Overall this is a very busy episode that takes the entire 45 minutes to go anywhere.
