Synopsis - After her grandmother's funeral, Dr. Beverly Howard Crusher is warned that her Nanna's house and a candle that has been carried, lit, by all the Howard women since the seventeenth century, are haunted. After ignoring this warning, she meets Roman, a thirtyish man, who her Nanna was in love with, falls in love herself and resigns from Starfleet. Meanwhile, the weather-control system for the planet where her Nanna lived, one of the first terra-forming planets in the Federation, is malfunctioning and interferes with the Enterprise's own life-support systems.
