Synopsis - As Captain Picard begins to experience flashbacks to his days as Locutus, the Enterprise receives word from Starfleet that the Borg are on their way back to Earth, and they are ordered to patrol the Romulan Neutral Zone. Disobeying orders, Picard orders the ship to Earth, so they may assist in stopping the Borg. Upon arrival they discover half the fleet already destroyed. They beam the crew of the Defiant aboard, including Lt. Cmdr. Worf. Picard takes control of the fleet and manages to destroy the Borg ship but not before lauching a time probe which goes back in time to assimilate the Federation, before it's even started. The Enterprise must now follow the Borg back to April 4th, 2063 to try and stop them, and make sure that Zefram Cochrane's first trial run of a warp propulsion unit (first identified as the discoverer of the space warp in TOS #31 "Metamorphosis") on April 5th by 11:15AM is successful in that they may have First Contact with a Vulcan ship on time. At one point in the film, in an effort to stop some Borg from assimilating him, Picard opens the Dixon Hill holo-novel The Big Goodbye.
